Setting up a course
Open Study, add a course, then upload your syllabus in Materials. Import syllabus suggests topics, objectives and assessments; nothing is saved until you review and confirm it. You can also import deadlines from a course calendar (.ics).
Course materials
Upload PDF, DOCX, Markdown, text, or lecture transcripts (.vtt, .srt). Recordings can be transcribed with an OpenAI connection; check that recording is permitted in your course. Scanned PDFs use English OCR, so check extracted text for errors.
When the tutor says your materials don't cover something
Answers cite exact quotes from your materials. If nothing matches, add the relevant lecture or reading, narrow the topic or week, or allow a clearly labelled general explanation.
Assignment AI policies
Set each assignment's policy from your course rules. Guidance only blocks rewriting and drafting tools for that assignment; Not permitted turns AI off for its drafts. Use Draft from my AI use to prepare a disclosure from the logged requests.
Flashcards and daily limits
Reviews are spaced with the FSRS algorithm. Your study profile sets how many reviews and new cards you see each day, so a backlog is spread out instead of piling up.
Importing a document
Use New document > Upload document for PDF, DOCX, Markdown or UTF-8 text. Files are reflowed for editing; complex tables, equations and footnotes may need review. Originals are preserved.
AI access
Enable external processing in your Privacy preferences. An administrator must configure a compatible provider. Review generated facts and references before relying on them.
Research returned no evidence
Some scholarly records have titles but no abstracts. Add authorized source text or use the configured web-search provider. A no-evidence response is not a statement that no relevant research exists.
Credits and failed requests
Billing & account shows reservations and completed usage. AI failures release their reservation. A multistep research run can include completed billable stages even if a later stage fails.
Password and email
Use the password-recovery link on sign-in. Email delivery must be configured by the operator. Verification links expire in 30 minutes and are single-use.
Cancelling a subscription
Open Billing & account, then the billing portal. Reading and exporting existing work is not paywalled when a plan ends; new work is subject to the remaining plan limits.
